Best Private School Game of the Week: Dematha 31-28 over rival Good Counsel
A back and forth game that saw the Stags jump out to an early lead before Good Councel's Kendall Fuller got things started for the home squad, with a 95 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Jacob Siwiki and Darien Harris produced the bulk of the Stags offense running the ball between the tackles. One huge 71-yard screen catch and run for Harris, on the first play of the 4th quarter, along with a Michael Branthover field goal was the difference. Zach Dancel and Stephon Diggs both had outstanding games for Good Counsel, hooking up together on three of the team's four touchdowns.

Best Public School Game of the Week: Gaithersburg 20-15 over Paint Branch
Gaithersburg lost a heartbreaker, one week ago against undefeated Sherwood, for their first loss of the year. Quarterback Zach Fetters, found a way to lead his Trojans back from a double digit 4th quarter deficit, with two late touchdown passes to make up for three earlier turnovers. Receiver Sylvester Oni caught the final game winning score from Fetters, as well as the two-point conversion that followed. Mike Nesmith's Paint Branch squad, made a valiant effort moving the ball down the field for one last opportunity, but turned the ball over on downs with less than a minute left.

As we do every week, let's take a different look at the weekend football numbers:

2 Number of undefeated teams still left in Montgomery County Public Schools: Damascus and Sherwood

260 Total yards of offense for Sherwood in the first half in a convincing victory over Blair

234 A.J. Pignone passing yards in the Sherwood win

7 Rushing touchdowns for Georgetown Prep in a monster win over St. Mary's, 3 from Bobby Gribbin and 2 from Dominic Bryan

11 Combined tackles for Georgetown Prep middle linebacker Chris Hampton, in the 1st half

14 Penalties on Walter Johnson in a 42-28 victory over B-CC

48 Minutes played by Ryan Davis of Walter Johnson as he scored 3 times and participated in every snap of the win

4 Touchdowns quarterback Cole Ahnell of Walter Johnson accounted for

9 Dematha defenders simultaneously fell to the ground between plays to get the referees attention for one injured teammate, in what was the most bizarre circumstance I have ever seen in a high school football game

33 Yard game winning field goal for Dematha kicker Michael Branthover, after the GamedayMD Mid-Season Special Teams award winner, uncharacteristically missed extra points in consecutive games

8 More catches for Paint Branch's Earvin Anumgba for 126 yards, he still holds the county lead in both catches and touchdowns receiving. He also added an interception in a close loss to Gaithersburg for a complete performance

197 Yards rushing for the Quince Orchard backfield duo of James McCallister and Mark Green, in a route of Clarksburg. The pair added 3 touchdowns

3 Zack Dancel touchdown passes, all to do everything Good Counsel star, Stephon Diggs. The pair added a 2-point conversion connection as well

6,000 Fans in attendance for the epic rivalry game between Good Counsel and Dematha in Olney, MD

1,316 Total rushing yards for Rockville running back Crusoe Gongbay, still the metro-area leader
