ESPN to Air Team Takeover Matchup

By Adam Chasen:
Team Takeover, a Washington D.C. based AAU basketball program, will be playing live on ESPNU tonight (Monday July 26th) at 7pm. The national powerhouse program will play Each 1 Teach 1 at the 17 and Under Super Showcase in Orlando, Florida. Austin Rivers a consensus top 3 player in the rising senior class plays for Each 1 Teach 1, and will provide an exciting matchup against the talented Takeover team.

Coach Keith Stevens' Team Takeover sports 11 players all with division 1 basketball offers and recently won the Elite Youth Basketball League at the Nike Peach Jam, (formerly known just as The Peach Jam) finishing 8-0 in the tournament.

The team is largely built with local products, several of which play in the GamedayMD region. Of note, James Robinson a rising junior point guard from Dematha, will play a key role as he readies to fill the void of Quinn Cook for the Stags. His Dematha teammate, Mikael Hopkins, is also a part of the squad, along with Darion Atkins, the big man from Landon. Michael Gbinije (St. Benedicts H.S.) is a highly regarded wing player who has committed to Duke already and will be called upon by Coach Stevens to provide a scoring punch.

Team Takeover has been known for their tough defensive play and will have to contain the outside shooting of Austin Rivers. Rivers, last week led all players at the Peach Jam in 3-point attempts, despite playing fewer games then many.

You can find ESPNU (Comcast Cable) on channel 730 or 853 for high definition.
