VIRGINIA HIGH RALLIES PAST 2009 CHAMPS IN 10 INNINGS; DANIELS EARNS 300th CAREER COACHING VICTORY
RADFORD, Va. - Courtesy runner Dale Stine scored from second base in the 10th inning on an infield single by Max Morris to lift Virginia High over Chatham 6-5 in the Group A Baseball State Semifinals Friday afternoon at Radford University as part of the 2010 Spring Jubilee.
Trailing 5-2 entering the bottom of the seventh, the Bearcats pushed across three runs to force extra innings.
After Virginia High grabbed an early 2-0 on Cody Read's two-run blast in the second, the Cavaliers responded with three unearned runs in the fourth inning to go up, 3-2.
The Bearcats' Josh Paolucci pitched three scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win.
Brandon Nave ended up with a double and a single for Virginia High, while Morris and Dakota Katelouzos each had two hits.
Virginia High will play Rappahannock in Saturday's State Championship at 10 a.m.
NORTHSIDE EARNS SPOT IN AA SOFTBALL TITLE GAME
RADFORD, Va. - Kathleen Carr's RBI single in the bottom of the first lifted Northside to a 1-0 shutout over Powhatan at the 2010 Spring Jubilee held at Radford University.
Kelsey Jarrett led the inning off with a single, moved to second on a groundout, before scoring the game winner on Carr's single up the middle.
Lauren Boitnott went the distance allowing just two hits, while striking out eleven.
The Vikings advance to tomorrow's championship game where they will meet Abingdon, a 2-1 winner over Poquoson, at 1:00 p.m. on the campus of Radford University.
SALEM DUO ADVANCES TO AA BOYS TENNIS DOUBLES STATE TITLE MATCH
RADFORD, Va. - A day after capturing his third-straight AA Boys Tennis Singles State Title, Patrick O'Keefe teamed up with Will Drougas to defeat Derek Gale and Patrick Brown of E.C. Glass (6-3, 6-1) Friday afternoon on the campus of Virginia Tech as part of the 2010 Spring Jubilee.
The Spartan pair advances to the championship match tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. at Virginia Tech
McGUIGAN'S LATE STRIKE LIFTS BLACKSBURG INTO 16TH STATE TITLE APPEARANCE
RADFORD, Va. - Scott McGuigan's goal in the 69th minute proved to be the difference as Blacksburg defeated Broad Run 1-0 in the semifinals of the Group AA Boys Soccer State Semifinals Friday at Radford University as part of the 2010 Spring Jubilee.
The Bruins await the winner of this afternoon's second semifinal contest between Jamestown and Hidden Valley. The defending state champs will be making their 16th state title appearance in 22 years.
Blacksburg, which is gunning for its 11th state title, finished with a 5-3 edge in shots.

MUSTANGS GALLOP PAST JOHN BATTLE 7-0, ADVANCE TO A BOYS SOCCER STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
RADFORD, Va. - Sparked by Andrew Arias' hat trick, George Mason earned a spot in the A Boys Soccer State title game blanking John Battle 7-0 on Friday afternoon on the campus of Radford University as part of the 2010 Spring Jubilee.
Nick Smirniotopoulos found the back of the net twice, while teammate Eion Oosterbaan added another goal for the Mustangs, who led 6-0 at the break. Mason outshot the Trojans 20-0.
The Mustangs await the winner of the second semifinal between Radford and Northampton. The championship game is slated for 12:00 p.m. tomorrow at Radford University.

LOUDOUN COUNTY BLANKS BLACKSBURG IN GROUP AA GIRLS SOCCER SEMIFINALS, 2-0
RADFORD, Va. - Loudoun County defeated Blacksburg 2-0 in the Group AA Girls Soccer State semifinals Friday at Radford University as part of the 2010 Spring Jubilee.
Shuana Kain (9th minute) and Sarah Olivero (74th minute) scored the game's only goals.
The Raiders will play Broad Run in Saturday's State Championship Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Broad Run advanced to the finals with a 3-0 win over Hidden Valley in Friday's first semifinal match.
Loudoun County finished with a 12-5 advantage in shots.

HOLSTON RALLIES PAST NANDUA IN GROUP A SOFTBALL SEMIFINALS, 4-3
RADFORD, Va. - Megan Honaker plated the tying run in the seventh with an RBI double and scored the winning run in the bottom of the 10th to lead Holston to a 4-3 win over Nandua in the Group A Softball State semifinals Friday morning at Radford University as part of the 2010 Spring Jubilee.
Honaker, who finished 2-for-5, scored the game winner on an error by Nandua catcher Shakia Mackey, who was attempting to throw out a stealing Honaker at third base.
Trailing 2-0 after five innings, Holston added a run in the bottom of the sixth and seventh to force extra innings.
With the contest tied 2-2, Nandua went back in front with a run in the next inning.
Down to their final at bat, the Cavaliers' Brianna Thomas belted a solo home run in the eighth to extend the game yet again.
Taylor Doss also added three hits for Holston.
The Cavaliers are coming off a 2-1 quarterfinal win over Coeburn, which lasted 19 innings.
Holston awaits the winner of Friday's second semifinal match between Gretna and Virginia High.
WALKER AND ROTH LEAD GEORGE MASON TO 5-1 WIN IN GROUP A GIRLS SOCCER SEMIFINALS
RADFORD, Va. - Hannah Walker and Leah Roth scored two goals each to lead George Mason past Gate City, 5-1, in the Group A Girls Soccer State semifinals Friday morning at Radford University as part of the 2010 Spring Jubilee.
Violet Miller also added a goal and set up another for the Mustangs.
The Blue Devils lone goal came from Anna McClung in the 64th minute.
George Mason outshot Gate City 16-4 and held an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.
The Mustangs await the winner of Friday's second semifinal match between Radford and Madison County.
