Rappahannock Holds Off Gate City, 9-8
RADFORD, VA - Rappahannock erased an early 4-0 deficit with a five-run third as the Raiders held off Gate City 9-8 in the Group A Baseball State Semifinals Friday afternoon at Radford University as part of the 2010 Spring Jubilee.
The Blue Devils cut the deficit to one on Austin Arnold's three-run homer in the seventh before Rappahannock's Joey Gordon relieved starter Jacob Roberts and retired the next three hitters.
To go along with earning the save, Gordon added a two-run blast in the bottom of the third.
The Raiders will meet Virginia High in tomorrow's State Championship at 10 a.m.
