Falcons Hold Off Poquoson 2-1; Face Northside
RADFORD, VA - Abingdon's two-run third inning proved to be enough to earn it a spot in the AA Softball Championship Game, slipping past Poquoson, 2-1, Friday afternoon at the 2010 Spring Jubilee hosted by Radford University.
The Islanders got on the board first when Maggie Tyler singled in Catherine Clavin in the first inning.
Abingdon answered in the bottom of the third when Sabrina Viers' two-out triple plated Hannah Bays and Logan Viers, who both reached via singles.
The Falcons' Sha'Tara Cooper hurled a four-hitter, striking out 12 in the process.
With the win, Abingdon will meet Northside to decide the AA Softball State Championship tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. on the campus of Radford University.
