ASHBURN, VA - The Broad Run Spartans hosted the Briar Woods Falcons tonight in a second round Dulles District playoff match-up. The Spartans cruised to an easy 10-0 victory in 5 innings over the Falcons. With the win the Spartans improve their overall record on the year to 17-4.

Junior Taylor Clarke had an outstanding performance on the mound for the Spartans striking out 10 batters in his five innings of work. Clarke allowed 3 hits and no walks on the evening. With the win, Clarke improves to 8-1 with 1 save on the year on the mound for the Spartans.

Offensively, several Spartans had big nights at the plate. Senior Shane Vlasic broke the game open in the third inning with a 3-run homerun to right field. On the night, Vlasic had 3 hits and 5 RBI. Junior Ryan Johnston had a big night as well with a double and a 2-run homerun over the left field fence in the fifth inning. Junior Shea Bargiel had 3 hits and 2 runs scored on the night, and Junior Zach Rawson added two hits as well.

With the win, the Spartans advance to the Dulles District Championship game this coming Thursday at Freedom High School against Loudoun County High School, who upset top seeded Potomac Falls, 4-1, in the other semifinal game Tuesday night. First pitch is set for 7 pm.
