If you look at the Centreville Wildcats' recent 6-game swing, where they have gone 3-3, and are coming off two consecutive losses - an 18-point disappointment against Langley, and a heartbreaking 2-point defeat by a "rebuilding" Westfield - one would claim that the Wildcats are on their way down the ladder in the Concorde District, yet again. But wait! Let's not forget where they were a mere three weeks ago.

Before a fateful night at Herndon on January 12, the Wildcats were sitting at 10-1 overall, and were on a 5-game win streak. In that 1st Herndon contest, Centreville jumped out to a 13 point lead after the 1st quarter, but Herndon fought back to cut their deficit to five at the half. The two teams traded leads for much of the 2nd half, and with Herndon up by three with under a minute left to play, Senior standout Warren Denny tied the game with a clutch 3-point shot to send the game into overtime. But that's when Herndon's defense clamped down. Holding Centreville to only 1-point in the extra frame, the Hornets prevailed, and the Wildcats were left to regroup.
