Eskin Leads Churchill Over Walter Johnson 52-38

POTOMAC, MD - Churchill started slow but found its stride in the second quarter taking a commanding lead behind strong defense in a 52-38 victory over Walter Johnson Tuesday evening in 4A West Division play. The victory was the Bulldogs' second in a row and enabled Churchill to sweep the regular season series against Walter Johnson.
Senior Jake Eskin led the Bulldogs' offense with a game high 20 points including a 10-13 effort from the line. Sophomore Sam Edens added 12 points for Churchill. With the victory, Churchill's record is now 8-9 overall and 4-6 in the 4A West Division.

On his thoughts about the game ...
"I am pleased that we were able to win tonight and we certainly had moments where we played well. But we were very sloppy offensively all evening. We turned the ball over way too many times and we missed open teammates.
When we did make the right passes we couldn't finish the play. Thankfully, we were able to play defense on a night when we struggled offensively.
Anytime you hold a team to under 40 points you are going to have a chance. But we all know we did not play our best game tonight and we need to improve in a number of areas. I'm just glad we can say that after a win."
On Churchill's next opponent (Richard Montgomery) ...
"They beat us pretty good the last time we played last month. Obviously, we are going to have to play at an entirely different level than we did tonight if we want to compete. They have the second best record in the County and it is not by accident. So we need to be a whole lot better on Friday to have a chance - it's really as simple as that."
