Churchill Falls to Paint Branch 65-53

POTOMAC, MD - Churchill, playing their 4th game in 7 days, battled Paint Branch all evening before eventually falling 65-53 in the Bulldogs' final regular season game Tuesday evening at Paint Branch. The Bulldogs trailed 34-27 at half and cut the lead to 46-42 at the end of the third.

However, the strong inside presence of Paint Branch eventually wore down the smaller Bulldogs and Paint Branch was able to secure the 65-53 victory. With the loss, Churchill finished the regular season at 9-12 overall and 4-8 in the 4A West Division.

The Churchill offense was led by senior guard Jake Eskin with 22 points (including two three-point field goals and8-10 from the line) and junior guard Will Lewis with 13 points (including three three-point field goals).

Churchill (6th seed) will now move on to the MPSSAA State Playoffs 4A West Region with a first round game at Churchill against Walter Johnson (11th seed) on Saturday February 27, 2010 at 7 p.m.

The winner of that game will advance to a matchup on Tuesday, March 1, 2010 against the third-seeded Whitman Vikings.
