Churchill Head Coach Matt Miller:
On his thoughts about the game...
"Tonight was just not our night from a lot of standpoints. We couldn't generate any consistent offense and our defense, while good at times, had major lapses which they were able to exploit by hitting threes. We rebounded well for about the first five minutes and then inexplicably stopped hitting the boards which you can't do against a team like RM.
Our energy level wasn't where it needed to be for most of the night. We've played 5 games in 8 days so maybe that had something to do with it but we need to be a high energy team all the time no matter what the schedule.
And for whatever it is worth, I don't think the coaches had a very good night either. We are all in this thing together. Nobody is going to feel sorry for us and give us the night off Friday (Whitman) so our guys have to find a way to fight through it and regain that spark we've had in earlier games.
We've shown the ability and energy before - we just need to be more consistent with it game to game, quarter to quarter. This is part of the growing pains that a young basketball team is going to go through. The one positive is that our guys were disappointed in their performance this evening and before you can get better you have to recognize that there is a problem. I think we recognized it, now it's up to us to correct it."
On Churchill's next opponent (Whitman)...
"I've been hearing all Summer from the Whitman kids and former Whitman players about how they want to beat us to avenge last season's playoff loss. So I expect them to be ready and we will need to match their intensity. They are a good team and they are well-coached. We will need to bring our proverbial "A" game to Whitman Friday night if we want to be successful."
