POTOMAC FALLS, VA - On Friday, the Panthers pulled off a close and hard fought win against the Patriots at Park View. On Saturday, they returned home to take on the Briar Woods Falcons. If the Panthers win, they will remain undefeated in the Dulles District. They will also have huge momentum heading into Friday night's epic showdown at Broad Run against the Spartans.
It was a close game in the beginning. After the first quarter, the Panthers were ahead 14-8.
In the second quarter, the Panthers really started to dominate as they headed into the locker room with a 29-14 lead. In this quarter alone, the Panthers outscored the Falcons 15-6.
The Panthers kept building on their lead in the third and ended it with a 45-29 spread. The Panthers continued to roll in the fourth quarter and won the game 65-52.
Coach Hawes was very proud of his Panthers. He said, "Myles Tate (of the Falcons) was tough, and he controlled the game for a while. He was hard to trap, and we were a little drained these last couple of days. We got off to a sluggish start, but then we had a nice burst of energy to take control of the game."
Lukas (Agent Double-Double) Mihailovich was the leading scorer for the Panthers with 20 points. Pete Simoneau added 11 points, Greg Graves had 9 points, Zack Curran scored 8 points and Brendon Chesson had 6 points.
For the Falcons, Myles Tate led all scorers with 27 points. Yves Kaume added 9 points and Curtis Calder scored 6 points.
On Friday night, the Panthers will travel to Broad Run in a highly anticipated game. Coach Hawes commented, "They're going to be tough at home. They're a really good ball club, but it isn't impossible for us to win over there. It's very possible. To me, this is one of the biggest games in many years!"
Panther Pit, Coach Hawes has a message for you. He said, "Study for your mid-term exams and study your lines for this game. I love when you guys chant, 'I believe that we will win.' We're going to need everyone's support Friday night because Broad Run is going to be crazy."
That's right, Panther Pit you heard your coach. Our rallying call is, "I believe that we will win." The game is on Friday, January 29 at 7:30 PM at Broad Run High School. Go Panthers!
