HAYMARKET, VA -- Likely the most deceiving--or puzzling--thing so far is Battlefield's record. Now at 5-5 on the year, it's almost wrong to thing that they're a .500 ballclub. In fact, for some at the Haymarket school, they probably wished they could place an asterisk next to their record.
See here's the thing. Battlefield head coach Al Ford had a choice to make at the beginning of the season. With his lineup filled with football players, and with Battlefield's football season extending into the early weeks of basketball season, a conflict arose. Ford could either postpone his early games or play without his star football players.
