Batts, Kain Lead Lady Raiders Over Panthers

LEESBURG, VA - Trailing 49-36 at the half, the Lady Raiders came out and played a strong second half outscoring the visiting Potomac Falls Panthers 39-13 for a 75-62 win.

Four Lady Raiders scored in double figures as Alissa Kain and Brittany Batts finished with 19 points each. Kendra Holmes would finish with 14 points and Jenna Strange would score 10 as Loudoun County improves to 9-2 overall and the Panthers fall to 7-3. Both teams are now 3-1 in Dulles District play.

In the second half, Kain recorded 14 points while Batts hit for 13 as County took over the game by outscoring the Panthers 25-6 in the third quarter.

Kain would also tally 11 rebounds. Jenna Strange finished with 9 rebounds and 5 steals while Holmes pulled down 5 rebounds, dished out 5 assists, and blocked 4 shots. Holmes did this while only playing only12 minutes in the final three quarters as she would eventually foul out.

Sophomores Erica Linnemann, 8 points, and Alex Lapple, 4 points, were also instrumental in the win.

For Potomac Falls, Raven Short had a game high 28 points. Symone Berry finished with 15 points and Rebecca Perez was the third Panther in double figures as she contributed 11 points.

Short and Berry combined for 39 of the Panthers 49 first half points. However, each would only score 2 points in the second half as County stormed back for the victory.
