Lady Raiders Advance to Tip-Off Championship
Loudoun County defeated AAA North Stafford 69-54 to advance to the Fauquier County Tip-Off Tournament Championship game.
In a contest that featured both teams pressing, County was able to extend its lead through the first three quarters as they led 57-41 after the third frame.
County's leading scorer was senior Alissa Kain. Kain finished with 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assist. All of Kain's rebounds were on the offensive end. Senior Kendra Holmes tallied 8 offensive rebounds as well as she had a game high 16 boards in the contest. Holmes also scored 17 points and added 6 steals. The final Raider in double figures was junior shooting guard Brittany Batts. Batts finished with 16 points and 6 steals.
Sophomore Casey Cummings gave the Lady Raiders a big lift off the bench as she scored 9 points, all in the second half, and pulled down 8 rebounds.
County will face a familiar foe in the Championship game as Briar Woods advanced after defeating the Fauquier Falcons on their home court.
Game time is set for 7:15 p.m. at Kettle Run High School.
