Pooches Picks

Presented By Team Elite in Virginia Beach

Division 6

#1.Oscar Smith vs. #4.Grassfield - Oscar Smith barely escaped their matchup with Grassfield earlier in the season with a 7-3 victory. Grassfield proved that they could hang with the big boys but it seems that lately Oscar Smith has been stepping up their game in the playoffs.
The Pick: Oscar Smith 17-7

#2.Bayside vs. #3.Woodside - Probably the most intriguing game in this weeks regional playoffs. Bayside's only loss came at the hands of the powerful Ocean Lakes Dolphins and Woodside's only loss came against defending division 5 state champ Phoebus. For Bayside to come away victorious, look for defensive end Dylan Powell to somehow get around monster tackle Venson Jones and try to stop Aaron Evans and a talented group of running backs for Woodside.
The Pick: Woodside 27-19

Division 5

#1.Phoebus vs. #5.Great Bridge - Great Bridge upset Churchland last week 17-14. Look for defensive end Daquan Romero to put constant pressure on Great Bridge quarterback Brad Hudson all night long. Colby Goodwyn is also looking to have a huge day and carry his team to the regional finals.
The Pick: Phoebus 30-3

#2.Lake Taylor vs. #6.Hampton - Hampton blanked I.C.Norcom 28-0 last week and looks to keep that momentum going, and Lake Taylor won 27-10 against Warwick. The key matchup to this game is whether or not Crabber quarterback David Watford can pass against a Titan defense that is very stout against the run.
The Pick: Lake Taylor 21-20

Division 4

#1.Powhatan vs. #4.York - With York stud Ben Edwards and dependable wide out JR Riddick sidelined with broken collarbones, look for undefeated Powhatan to impose their will as the Falcons travel up I-95 to Fredericksburg.
The Pick: Powhatan 28-10

#2.Chancellor vs. #3.Smithfield - Smithfield is already in playoff form, having beaten a tough Poquoson team Monday night 35-14 just to make it into the playoff field. Look for 1st team all-district running back Montrell Johnson to hit on a couple key, big plays and Bay Rivers District defensive Player of the Year Rohn Springfield to take the Packers to the regional final.
The Pick: Smithfield 32-30

Division 3

#1.Bruton vs. #4.Greensville County - Greensville County played York to the wire in the beginning of the season and barely lost. They have a very potent aerial attack and will give Bruton a run for their money in this opening round of the regional playoffs. Bruton is led by Bay Rivers District Offensive Player of the Year, Jackson Neve, who looks to lead his team into the regional finals. Lorenzo Taliaferro is a bull of a running back and looks to help out and carry his share of the load for this Panther offense.
The Pick: Bruton35-30

#2.Park View-South Hill vs. #3.Poquoson - Poquoson has seemed to struggle down the stretch, losing their last three out of four games but still managed a number three seed and will have to travel to South Hill for what should be a great matchup of two solid teams. For Poquoson to win, Tee McConnell and the Hill brothers will have to step up big and make key plays to get them to the next round. Hopefully Poquoson wide out Chad Pinder will be able to suit up and lend a hand.
The Pick: Park View-South Hill 24-14
