Liberty Whallops Kettle Run 70-7

BEALETON, VA - On a cold rainy night in Fauquier County the Liberty Eagles ran for 8 touchdowns and amassed 509 total yards of offense against cross county rival Kettle Run. Senior RB Wayne Fleming ran at will all night long as he crossed the goal line five times on 15 carries and finished the game with 203 yards rushing.

Fellow Senior Bryon Williams had the longest touchdown run of the game when he ran for a 70-yard score in the first quarter. Williams would score again from 4 yards out in the second quarter to give Liberty (5-2, 2-0) a 49-0 lead going into half time. Williams finished the game with 95 yards rushing on just 3 carries.

Liberty stopped Kettle Run on a 4th and goal from the 1 and took over with the ball just inches from their own goal line. The Eagles then dialed up the passing game for just the second time and it worked to perfection as Lou Chiccehitto connected with Josh Spindle for a 99-yard touchdown.

Liberty's defense limited Kettle Run to just 6 yards in the first half and intercepted 4 passes in the game. LB Shane Blanchard came away with two interceptions, one of which he took to the house for a 28 yard return to give the Eagles a 63-0 lead in the third quarter.

Sophomore RB Anthony Budd scored his second touchdown in as many weeks as he ran in from 24 yards after spinning through a tackle en route to the Eagles final touchdown of the game.

Kettle Run (2-5, 0-1) avoided the shutout in the 4th quarter when QB Justin Duvall found Jimmy Hargro in the end zone for a 12-yard touchdown. Kettle Run finished the game with 131 yards of offense 61 coming on the ground and 70 via the pass.

Liberty travels to Stephen's City next Saturday for an important non-district match up against the Sherando Warriors. Kickoff is set for 1:00 with the "Integrated Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy Pre-game Show" set for a 12:30 start.
