Finally. We're here. Football season is upon us and all we can say is: It's About Time.

After nearly three weeks of being on our Training Camp Tour, counting down all of the area teams, analyzing recruits and talking about the old days of football, we're ready for the real thing. Enough of that other stuff, it's time to actually watch the game get played.

And of course, here at Gameday, what football season would be complete without our Power Poll? It's here again, and who knows what's in store this year. Will the curse of #10 live on in 2009? How many more bulletin boards will the Poll be on? Maybe we'll incite more anger among the area coaches.

Needless to say, the Power Poll has taken on a life of its own and we can't wait to see what kind of hubbub we'll cause this year.

On a side note, and we will emphasize this every...single...week to make ourselves clear. The Power Poll is a performance-based ranking, meaning we don't care too much about hypothetical situations. For example, if you win, you move up in the poll. If you lose, you move down. Simple as that.

But guys, wouldn't schools like Broad Run and Handley get smoked by all the AAA teams?

Maybe, maybe not. We don't care about that. Rather, all we care about is whether Broad Run or Handley wins with whatever challenge is placed before them. Same goes for the AAA schools. If they're losing and not getting the job done, they will never be placed above a AA that is blowing by everyone. Like we said, it's a performance-based poll. Just win baby!
