Denbigh Patriots 2008 record 4-6
Head Coach- Marcellus Harris (2nd Year)
Offense- Multiple Spread
Quarterback - The quarterback position is the key to any good offense and this year the Patriots feel they have to young good ones. 5-foot-11 junior Allen Simon will be the starter for the Patriots when they take on Heritage Sept 4th. Backing him up is the strong arm sophomore Denzel Wise.
Running Back- The Patriots upcoming season delivered a blow when Derrick Anderson tore his ACL in practice about a month ago. Anderson was penciled in to be the starting tailback for 2009. Now a lot of the carries will fall on the shoulders on the young freshman Andre Watson. Watson who only weighs 150lbs will have to share the load with sophomore Treyvon Randall, who isn't that big either at 5-foot-6 155lbs.
Receivers- This should be the biggest strength for Denbigh this year. Junior Rodriguez Jones was All- District last year and should be the Patriots big play guys again this year. Next to him is the talented senior Lavon Pearson. These two kids are as good as any other receiver duo in the district. Sophomore Devione Green (5-11, 160) will be lining up a lot of the slot position as well. At tight end it will be junior Shaquille Serrette (6-0, 180) doing a lot of blocking, but don't be fooled because Shaq can get down field and catch the ball.
Offensive Line- At the tackle position you have two seniors Terrance Holston (6-2, 285) and Michael Stevenson (6-2, 210) who will be the anchors of this line. At right guard junior Raheim Wingfield (6-1, 245) will be coming back this year after a good 2008 campaign. The other guard will be junior Stetson Williams.
Defense- 4-4
Defensive Line- Two offensive linemen will be going both ways this year for the Patriots as Williams and Stevenson will be starting at defensive end. At the defensive tackle position sophomore Twymun Safford (6-0, 205) and senior Nick Swanson (6-4, 245) will be clogging the holes for opposing backs.
Linebackers- At strong side OLB will be DeAndre Ford, a junior with tons of potential. At the weak side OLB spot is Shaquille Serrette. The two middle linebackers who will be getting tons of tackles are junior Alex Killiam (6-1, 200) and Treyvon Randall.
Secondary- The Patriots will have some very talented cornerbacks this year, starting with junior O'Shea Bryant (6-2, 190), who can run with anyone. The other cornerback starter will be junior Keith Frierson (6-0 170) who isn't scared to come up and make the big hit. And rounding out the secondary is safety Lavon Pearson.
Special Teams- Kevin Jones will get all the kicking duties, while Jordan Jenkins will be handling the punts. Lavon Pearson and Devione Greene will be doing all the returning for Denbigh.
Top New Comer- Devione Greene and Raheim Wingfeild
