Fialdini Pitches Complete Game 3-Hitter

FAIRFAX, VA - Senior Nick Fialdini pitched a complete game three hitter, Stone Bridge played solid defense, and seniors Michael Prince and Johnny Bladel each collected two hits and junior Michael Mattingly hit a homerun to lead the Stone Bridge attack.

Stone Bridge jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Michael Prince and Johnny Bladel hit back-to-back doubles and after Bladel stole third, he scored on a sacrifice fly by junior Taylor Lambke.

Stone Bridge added a run in the third when Mike Mattingly hit a towering shot to straight away center.

Stone Bridge went up 5-0 in the fifth. Sophomore Spenser Rositano lined a double off the base of the fence, went to third on a passed ball and scored on a sacrifice by Michael Prince. Prince scored on a single by sophomore J.J. White.

Woodson got one back in the bottom of the sixth. Kirk Lewis led off with a single and scored on a double by Max Waizenberger. But Fialdini buckled down and got the 3-4-5 hitters to end the threat. He then came on in the seventh and struck out the side to seal the victory.

Stone Bridge improved their record to 14-4 overall and 9-3 in the district. They travel to Langley on Tuesday and finish the regular season at home against Madison in two crucial Liberty District games as they battle Langley and Madison for second place in the district and an automatic slot in the regionals.
