FAIRFAX, VA - The Gameday Radio Network will broadcast the #28 nationally ranked George Mason University baseball games against Northeastern on Friday and Saturday. Friday's contest begins at 3pm and Saturday's will start at 2pm. Andy Hayes and Grant Paulsen will call the action live on the Gameday Radio Network with both games available to listen to at www.gomason.com, the official website of the George Mason Patriots.

The Patriots (35-8) are having a tremendous season and share the title of being the nation's most successful this year with UVA and UNC with an .814 winning percentage. Led by record breaking slugger Scott Krieger, and catcher Chris Henderson, the Patriots have a lethal lineup and a really solid pitching staff.

"We are working on bringing George Mason baseball to the Gameday Radio Network in the future on a regular basis," Hayes said. "Coach Bill Brown is one of the best in the game, and his program deserves to be on the air."

The Gameday Radio Network has been broadcasting high school sports primarily in Northern Virginia since 2006, and according to Hayes, that won't change.

"We are committed to being the leader in high school sports broadcasting on radio and television in Northern Virginia, and nothing will change with that," Hayes said. "We have the ability to pick up the Patriots at home on our network, and that won't take away from the high school broadcasting we do at all."

Pauslen and Hayes teamed up last Friday to bring the Hofstra game to Mason fans for the first time, and the response was very positive.

"We had some Mason fans writing in to us during the broadcast from all over," Hayes said. "We heard from a Patriot alum from San Antonio, Texas who listened to the entire game which was cool. This series with Northeastern is a big one, so we are expecting an even bigger response this week."

The Patriots have a 3 game lead in the CAA over James Madison entering the series with the Huskies. George Mason will play on the road at James Madison in their final regular season series of the year, so it is important for the Patriots to sweep Northeastern to apply even more pressure to the Dukes.

First pitch is scheduled for 3pm Friday with the pre-game coverage starting live at 2:45pm. You can listen live and interact with Hayes and Paulsen by e-mailing during the game to GamedayMagazine@aol.com with comments and questions. The two veteran broadcasters will answer your questions in between innings.

Several former local high school stars from Northern Virginia are on the George Mason roster and playing significant roles in the Patriot's outstanding season. Former Westfield star Justin Bour is the starting first baseman, and former Robinson star Spencer Wiggins starts in centerfield. Wiggins is one of 3 former Rams on the roster with senior pitcher Ben Reade and redshirt freshman A.J Johnson also playing for the Patriots. Former Osbourn Park standout Steve Flasher is the closer for the Patriots, and freshman Brig Tison, who played for Madison, is on the roster as well.
