Day 2: State Track & Field - We are Champions!

BALTIMORE, MD - Day two of the state track and field state finals ended with eight state titles for Montgomery County athletes.

The Montgomery Blair boys 4x200 relay team won with a time of 1:28.32.

In the 4x800 relay, the Wootton girl's team won with a time of 9:23.15.

Working together and earning the state champion title were juniors Corinne Duvall, Jessie Rubin, Andrea Maxwell and freshman Grace Corbett.

For the boys 4x800 meter relay, Damascus won with a time of 7:55.50.

Relay team members were sophomore Alex Arias, and juniors Devante Thomas, Jon Constantinides and Ben Constantinides.

Jessie Rubin of Wootton for 4A ran the 3200 meter run in a time of 11:03.80 and earned the state champion title with her efforts.

For 3A, Addie Tousley of Bethesda-Chevy Chase won the 3200 in a time of 11:23.59.

Arielle Statham of Paint Branch won the triple jump with a distance of 40-04. It was the first time a jump was over 40 feet.

On the boys side, Solomon Haile of Sherwood won the 3200 meter run with a time of 9:13.77.

From Gaithersburg, Sean Stanley earned his state title in the shot put with a distance of 60-04.

This was Montgomery County's fifth state title in this event.

The last day of competition for states is today, Saturday May 23rd.
