Panther Bats Too Hot For Patriots In 13-3 Romp

POTOMAC FALLS, VA - Potomac Falls kept their Dulles District unbeaten streak alive with a 13-3 win over Park View on Tuesday night. The Panthers banged out 7 hits in the 1st inning and scored 6 runs to take control of the game. They finished with 14 hits and were lead by Ben Sweger's 4 hits and Ryan Miller's 3 hits.

The Panthers got to Park View starter Sam Ryan right off the bat when Sweger led off with a double to left. He was knocked in when Rob Malan followed with a double to left. Malan then scored on Mike Spring's single to left. Ryan Miller then knocked in Spring with a double to centerfield. Matt Rubino followed with a single and Chad McMichael walked to load the bases. Sweger then collected his 2nd hit of the inning with a 2 RBI single up the middle and the Panthers had a 6 run lead.

The Patriots got one back in the 2nd when Johnny Mason turned on a Jacob Kline fastball and went yard over the right field fence at Panther Park. Park View added 2 more in the 3rd when Hayden Earley lead off with a single to left and scored on Drew Mason's triple to the base of the fence in right. Mason then scored easily on brother Bobby Mason's sacrifice fly to right to make the score 6-3.

Potomac Falls came right back in their half of the 3rd when McMichael reached on an error and Sweger smacked his third hit of the game to left. Mahoney then followed with a single down the 1st base line to score McMichael. Malan then worked a walk to load the bases and Spring followed with a single to score Sweger. Miller then followed with his 3rd hit of the game, a 2 RBI single to center to make the score 10-3.

The Panthers ended the scoring in the 6th when Matt Hoover knocked in Taylor Jernigan on a single to right and Mahoney knocked in Kline with a single to right.

Jacob Kline went the distance and picked up his 2nd win in two days to up his record to 6 and 1. He extended his Panther strikeout record by adding 10 and only gave up 3 runs on 4 hits. Ben Sweger extended his hitting streak to 7 consecutive hits after going 3 for 3 last night and 4 for 4 tonight. Ryan Miller went 3 for 3 and added 3 RBI's and Ryan Mahoney, Mike Spring, and Eric Dimsey all had 2 hits apiece.

The Panthers (10-0) travel to Freedom (0-9) on Friday to possibly lock up the Dulles District race and remain undefeated while Park View hosts Dominion.
