ASHBURN, VA - The Stone Bridge Bulldogs girls' lacrosse team looked to get back on track after a tough loss last Wednesday to a solid W.T. Woodson team. It was senior night for the Bulldogs and having only one senior (Amy Rollins), they looked to get back to their winning ways against a McLean team that has struggled this year.

It was all Bulldogs in the first half; playing lock down defense they held the Highlanders to only 1 goal on 6 shots, and forced 11 turnovers.

Junior Lauren Giusti led the high powered offense for the Bulldogs scoring the first goal of the game on the way to her total of four.

Melissa Mallof scored the only goal of the half for the Highlanders on an assist from Carlyle Howard.

Freshman Kayla Sleece added 2 goals in the first half for the Bulldogs, while junior Coral Ryan stopped 5 out of the six shots she faced.

The Bulldogs had total control of the ball taking 20 shots in the first half alone. Sophomore Kayla Worstell and senior Amy Rollins each added a goal, while junior Rachael Pascale had 2 for the Bulldogs. The score at the end of the first half was 10-1 in favor of the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs kept firing on all cylinders in the second half; taking 12 shots on goal scoring 4 of them. Sleece started off the scoring in the second half with her third goal of the game. Worstell also added a goal on a one timer from junior Holly Kramer.

Mackenzie May scored the only goal of the second half for the Highlanders.

Once again Stone Bridge's defense locked down the Highlanders forcing 10 turnovers. Freshman Kendra Austin stepped between the pipes for the Bulldogs and made 3 saves. Rollins and Kelley Galwonia each put one in the net for Stone Bridge in the second half, helping the Bulldogs glide to a 14-2 win.

After the victory, the Best Buy Player of the Game Lauren Giusti said, "That it was a matter of not letting our past failures affect how we play in the future." She also added, "We need to keep a positive attitude."

Coach Howard said that she was pleased with the win, and added that with only one senior on the team it leaves a lot of potential for not only this year, but in years to come. Kayla Worstell added that the team has been through ups and downs, but added "we are headed in a good direction. This game brought us back together as a team."
