CHANTILLY, VA -- Led by four touchdown runs by Jordan Anderson, the Bulldogs defeated the visiting Hornets 41-22 in their Northern Region AAA Division 6 Quarterfinal. In winning, Westfield avenged a one-point overtime loss to Herndon three weeks ago which blemished the Bulldogs then-undefeated record.

The game started slowly with unproductive drives by both teams. Westfield finally got on the board late in the first quarter when, on a 1st and 10, Anderson broke loose for a 65-yard touchdown run. The Hornets next drive stalled and the Bulldogs got the ball back. On a 4th and 5 at Herndon's 39, Westfield faked a punt, snapping the ball directly to Dylan Doty who ran 11 yards for a first down. Quarterback Danny Fenyak then completed a pass to Jay Jackson which brought the Bulldogs to the Hornets' 3 yard line. Anderson then ran it in for his second touchdown, giving Westfield a 14-0 lead.

The Bulldogs' scoring continued in the second quarter. Anderson ran for his third touchdown, this time for 64 yards, and with just over 30 seconds left in the half, Fenyak hit Evan Winfrey with a 17-yard touchdown pass giving the Bulldogs a 28-0 lead and what appeared to be total control of the game. But the Hornets weren't giving up. After returning the ensuing kickoff to their own 37 yard line, quarterback Zack Ozycz threw to the left hitting Chris Medina, and Medina then threw downfield to Zach Leach who trotted into the end zone untouched, cutting the Bulldogs' lead to 28-6 at halftime after a mixed extra point.

Herndon kept their momentum going in the third quarter when they sacked Fenyak and recovered his fumble at Westfield's 35. On a 4th and 4, Ozycz completed a pass to Jake Stewart to keep the drive going. On a 2nd and goal at the Bulldogs' 4 yard line, Ozycz pitched the ball to Devon Thompson who ran to the left for a touchdown, narrowing the score to 28 -13.

Westfield responded with a 59-yard scoring drive highlighted by nice running by Doty, Jackson and Anderson. The drive culminated with a six-yard run by Anderson for his fourth touchdown of the night with just over a minute remaining in the third quarter.

The Bulldogs scored again with just over four minutes left in the game on Fenyak's 9-yard touchdown pass to Andres Rodriguez giving Westfield an insurmountable 41-13 lead. After being pinned deep in their own territory, the Bulldogs ran the ball out of the back of their own end zone resulting in a safety and a 41-15 score. With just 26 seconds left in the game, Ozycz threw deep to Nick Impellizzeri for a touchdown which yielded the final 41-22 final score.
