Osbourn Rains On Valley's Parade 34-8

PURCELLVILLE, VA - With three games left in the 2008 season, the Loudoun Valley Vikings were hoping to make a splash with a win over the Osbourn Eagles, who ventured into town on Homecoming Saturday. It turned out that both teams made a splash on just about every play due to the hard driving rain that fell throughout the contest.
The Vikings did score first after its defense held Osbourn on 4th and 1 on the Eagle 24 yard line. Valley's Chris Music scampered around the left end to give the Vikings a 6-0 lead. Loudoun Valley went for two and converted when Geoff Holden barreled his way straight ahead across the goal line to make the score 8-0.
Osbourn, who entered the game with a half game lead in the Cedar Run district for second place, took the Valley kickoff and drove down the field. Tailback Jerrell McFadden finished the drive off with a touchdown run, then also scored on the two point play to tie the score at 8-8.
Fumbles and botched punts then became the story line, and mid-way through the second quarter Osbourn started to settle in. Eagle quarterback Thomas Keith then gave Osbourn the lead when he hit his brother Timmy Keith from 35 yards out. McFadden converted again on another two point conversion try to make the score 16-8.
Osbourn got the ball back late in the 2nd quarter and right before the half ended, kicker Tyler Shultze knocked in a field goal to give the Eagles a 19-8 lead heading into the locker room.
In the second half, the Eagles began to pull away, and the Vikings struggled to get much working on offense despite recovering the opening kickoff. Thomas Keith connected with his brother Timmy on another long touchdown toss, and the Eagles added a late score to finish the game victors 34-8.
On the day, the Vikings ran the football 49 times for 115 yards. Tailback Chris Music had 36 of those carries for 87 yards and the one touchdown for Valley.
Osbourn's Thomas Keith finished 6 for 12 passing for 143 yards and two touchdowns on the day. His brother Timmy Keith caught both touchdowns while pulling in 3 receptions for 94 yards.
The talented McFadden finished with 72 yards on 15 carries, and 1 touchdown.
The weather was absolutely horrible, and the field conditions limited both teams with regard to what they could do on offense. Valley fumbled 10 times in the game, but only lost 3 of them, while Osbourn fumbled 4 times and lost all 4.
With the win, Osbourn improved to 4-4 on the season, and 4-1 in the Cedar Run district. Valley fell to 1-7 on the year.
Velocity Sports Performance Players of the Game:
For Loudoun Valley:
Colin Owens - Senior Linebacker
Owens was all over the field and his play helped to keep the Osbourn running game in check for most of the game.
For Osbourn:
Timmy Keith - Junior Receiver
Keith's two touchdown receptions were huge in this one, and once the Eagles realized they could still throw the football, the rest of the offense started to move for Osbourn. Keith's play was a big reason why the Eagles were victorious.
