Liberty Eagles batter Stonewall Jackson
BEALETON, VA - The Eagles started the game slowly but, like a steam driven locamotive, once they got the momentum they were unstoppable. Leading 7 - 0 at halftime Liberty came out in the 2nd half with a "chip" on their shoulder and scored 34 unanswered points. Offensive leaders were Nick Potts completing 9 of 17 passes for 181 yards and 2 TD's, Corey Lillard with 116 yards on only 8 carries and 2 TD's, and Wayne Fleming with 9 carries for 101 yards and 1 TD. Liberty totaled 474 yards with over 290 yards in the 2nd half. The Eagle's defense got back on track this week also allowing Stonewall Jackson to only 130 yards for the game and securing the "goose egg" for Coach Potts. Standout defensive players were Derek Lee with 2 interceptions, Bobby Newton with 1 interception and Cortez Carter leading the team in tackles.
