Fairfax Out "Pace-d" by Chargers 42-7

CHANTILLY, VA - The night couldn't have been any better for Chantilly (6-2) running back Torrian Pace. The senior, named Homecoming King at half-time, finished with 7 runs for 177 yards and three scores. They defeated the Fairfax Rebels (3-5) 42-6.

His first score came on his first carry, a 50 yard scamper early in the first quarter to put the Chargers up by 7.

Chantilly Quarterback Roger Strittmatter followed that up with a 17 yard touchdown pass to tight end Mike Ryan, with 11:53 left in the second quarter.

With another pass to Ryan, this time 75 yards, Strittmatter put the Chargers up 21-0 with 7:23 left in the second quarter.

Pace lit up the Rebels defense again, with an 85 yard touchdown run, to send the Chargers to the locker room up 28-0 with an array of fireworks illuminating the sky above Charger Stadium.

Though Pace finished the first half with six carries for 161 yards and the two scores, he wasn't done yet. He had a 27 yard score to open up the third quarter for the Chargers, putting them up 35-0. An 11 yard sack of the Robinson QB by Chantilly senior Brian Abatemarco and a fumble return by the Chargers put them in position to score yet again.

This time it was Chantilly senior Kevin McGrath with a 34 yard scoring run to put the Chargers up by 42.

The Rebels scored with 7:01 remaining in the game, but missed the extra point, so the game concluded with a 42-6 outcome for the Chargers.

The player of the game for Chantilly was, without a doubt, Torrian Pace, who finished with 7 carries for 188 yards and three touchdown runs.

Next week the Chargers play at Centreville, a team they haven't beaten since their undefeated state-championship run in 1996.
