Radford, Blacksburg and Wm. Byrd all claimed district tournament golf titles this past week, as the 2008 high school season winds down.
Radford Wins Three Rivers District Golf Title
DRAPER, VA - Radford's No. 3 player. James Woods shot a 78, which was two strokes better than Giles's No. 3 golfer Caleb Tilley's 80, as the Bobcats defeated the Spartans by a slim 307-308 margin to claim the Three Rivers District Tournament title Tuesday at the Par 72 Draper Valley Golf Club.
Radford and Giles, the regular-season champion, will both advance to the Region C Tournament Tuesday at Draper Valley. In addition to the two teams moving forward, the top six qualifiers also advanced.
Radford's Zeke Schaffer and Giles' Tanner Carbaugh fired a 2-under-70 to share medalist honors.

Blacksburg Captures River Ridge District Golf Crown
DALEVILLE, VA - Blacksburg's Jake Mondy shot a 5-under-par 68 to take medalist honors and helping the Bruins capture the River Ridge District golf title Monday at the par 73 Ashley Plantation in Daleville.
Blacksburg, the defending Group AA state champions and Cave Spring, who finished a distant second on Monday will both advance to the Region IV Tournament to be played next week at the Fincastle Country Club in Bluefield.
The Bruins, who had a team score of 6-under-par, saw all four of their scorers shoot below or at-even par.

William Byrd Takes Blue Ridge District Golf Title
ROANOKE, VA - Tyler Chocklett and Ben Firebaugh had an outstanding round of golf as the pair helped William Byrd claim the Blue Ridge District golf tournament championship at the par 71 Roanoke Country Club. Lord Botetourt finished second in the tournament.
Both the Terriers and the Cavaliers, the regular-season champs, will advance to the Region III tournament next Monday at the Heritage Oaks Golf Course in Harrisonburg.
Chocklett claimed medalist honors by firing a 4-under-par 67, while his teammate, Firebaugh, pocketed a 70 to finish as runner-up.
