Volleyball: Several Teams Stay Perfect

Christiansburg, Hidden Valley, Salem, Auburn, Glenvar and North Cross remain unbeaten in area volleyball play after three weeks of action.

Blacksburg Picks Up First Win Against Northside

BLACKSBURG, VA - The Lady Bruins picked up their first win of the season Thursday night by defeating the Lady Vikings 25-18, 25-9 and 27-25 in non-district volleyball action.

Katy Kipps led Blacksburg (1-1) with 14 kills and two solo blocks. Chelsea Kessner had 15 digs and three aces, Lindsey Henderson tallied 21 assists and Maggie Howell finished with three assisted blocks.

Northside fell to 2-4 on the season.

Lord Botetourt Stops James River In Three

BUCHANAN, VA - In a battle of county rivals, the Lady Cavaliers rode past the Lady Knights 25-16, 25-11 and 25-17 in non-district action Thursday night.

Macey Tyree led Lord Botetourt (3-3) with nine kills. Abby Martin and Nicole Davis tallied six and five kills, respectively; and MacKenzie Tyree finished with 17 service points, including four aces.

North Cross Topples Chatham Hall

The Lady Raiders picked up its second Blue Ridge Conference win of the season with a 25-17, 26-28, 25-18 and 25-8 win against Chatham Hall Thursday evening.

North Cross (3-0, 2-0 BRC) was led by eight assists and seven aces from Sarah Jessee and Marli Dabareiner finished with eight kills.

Hidden Valley Beats Wm. Byrd

VINTON, VA - The Lady Titans kept its perfect record intact with a 25-12, 25-11 and 25-10 non-district volleyball win against the Lady Terriers Thursday night.

Sam Ringer paced Hidden Valley (5-0) with 15 kills and five aces. Sam Klostermann tallied seven kills and Eva Delaney posted 31 assists.

Candace Brady led Wm. Byrd (1-3) with 11 assists and two kills. Kaylyn Molnar added three kills and six digs, while Erin Moody finished with two kills and four digs.

Salem Goes The Limit With Patrick Henry

SALEM, VA - The Lady Spartans had to go the distance to stay unbeaten, as they outlasted the Lady Patriots 25-20, 21-25, 21-25, 25-21 and 16-14 in non-district action Thursday night.

Kayla Paxton led Salem (6-0) with 19 kills and Rachel Turk tallied 51 assists, 20 digs and two aces.

Jenny Young led Patrick Henry (2-2) with 25 kills and 21 digs, while Liz Brailsford had 15 kills and 15 digs.

Glenvar Knocks Off Grayson County

INDEPENDENCE, VA - The Lady Highlanders cruised to an easy 25-7, 25-7 and 25-10 non-district volleyball win against Grayson County Thursday night.

Jessica Owen led Glenvar (5-0) with 20 assists and seven aces. Liz Trinchere added nine kills and four blocks, while Julie Helton had five digs.

Christiansburg Outlasts Radford

RADFORD, VA - The Lady Blue Demons record stayed unblemished, as they outlasted the Lady Bobcats 25-22, 25-15, 25-27 and 25-18 Wednesday night in Radford.

Haley Dietz led Radford with a perfect 9-for-9 serving and one ace, along with 18 digs and 23-for-25 passing. Maryah Sydnor was 14-of-16 hitting with 12 kills, three blocks and two kill blocks, while Candice Akers was 11-of-14 with eight kills, three blocks and two kill blocks. Lindsey Smith tallied 27 assists and Blair Holbrook finished with 18 digs and 22-of-24 passing.

Christiansburg improved to 5-0 on the season.

Lord Botetourt Tops Cave Spring

ROANOKE, VA - The Lady Cavaliers handed the Lady Knights their first loss of the season Wednesday night by the scores of 25-17, 22-25, 25-23 and 25-13 in non-district volleyball action.

Lord Botetourt, which improved to 2-3, was led by Macey Tyree with eight kills and nine digs. MacKenzie Tyree had 10 digs and Nicole Davis added nine kills.

Lauren Bosche led Cave Spring (2-1) with 10 kills and Meredith Walker finished with six blocks.

Staunton River Rolls Past Wm. Fleming

ROANOKE, VA - The Lady Colonels continue to struggle at the nets, as they dropped their sixth-straight match Wednesday night to Staunton River, 25-19, 25-15 and 25-20.

Salesse Stoval led Wm. Fleming (0-6) with 10 kills, five digs and eight service points. Jessica Chen and Cara Thomas finished with 13 and nine assists, respectively.

Samantha Sublett paced Staunton River (3-2) with nine kills.

Auburn Spikes Grayson County

RINER, VA - Tabby Whitlock had the big night in helping lead the Lady Eagles to a 25-12, 25-8 and 25-8 non-district win against the Lady Blue Devils Tuesday night.

Whitlock finished the evening with seven kills, seven digs and two blocks for Auburn (4-0). Chelsie Kenley posted six kills and four blocks, Sabrina Huff had 19 assists, Joelle Gross added seven digs and Jessica Saddler tallied seven kills.

North Cross Opens District Play Victoriously

ROANOKE, VA - The Lady Raiders opened Blue Ridge Conference play Tuesday evening with a 25-9, 25-10 and 25-8 win against Carlisle in Roanoke.

Sarah Jessee and Marli Dabareiner combined for 11 kills and 11 assists to lead North Cross (2-0, 1-0 BRC). Mary McConaughy and Olivia Langhorne posted three service aces each.

Hidden Valley Topples Lord Botetourt

DALEVILLE, VA - Eva Delaney recorded 33 assists in helping lead the Lady Titans to a 25-20, 22-25, 25-10 and 25-17 win against non-district foe Lord Botetourt Tuesday night.

Sam Ringer tallied 15 kills and Jessica Church added 26 digs for Hidden Valley (4-0).

Glenvar Wins In Three Against Craig County

SALEM, VA - The Lady Highlanders grounded the Lady Rockets 25-20, 25-18 and 25-14 in a non-district volleyball match Tuesday evening.

Liz Trinchere led Glenvar (4-0) with 13 service aces, 15 kills, six digs and three blocks. Shelby Wynn added four service aces and six kills, while Casey Moore finished with six digs and six kills.

Craig County fell to 3-2 on the season.

Salem Defeats Wm. Fleming

SALEM, VA - The Lady Spartans improved to 5-0 with an easy 25-11, 25-10 and 25-9 non-district volleyball win against the Lady Colonels Tuesday night.

Rachel Turk led Salem (5-0) with 13 assists, seven digs and two blocks. Kayla Paxton had five kills.

Franklin County Beats Martinsville

ROCKY MOUNT, VA - The Lady Eagles evened their record Tuesday evening with a 25-16, 25-11 and 25-19 non-district volleyball win against Martinsville.

Lindsey Campbell led Franklin County (2-2) with 39 assists. Katie Matherly posted 14 service points and 12 digs, while Kaitlyn Whitmer finished with nine kills and eight digs.

Rustburg Tops Wm. Byrd

RUSTBURG, VA - The Lady Red Devils handed the Lady Terriers a 25-13, 25-9 and a 25-12 non-district volleyball loss Tuesday night in Rustburg.

Candace Brady led Wm. Byrd (1-2) with 14 assists and six digs. Samantha Webster tallied six kills, Kalyn Molnar added three kills and Taylor Ferguson finished with four digs.
