Wang To Help Solidify Hokies Offensive Line

Ed Wang, a product of Stone Bridge High School, will start at left tackle this season for Virginia Tech.

BLACKSBURG, VA- After beginning last season with a broken fibula, Ed Wang (r-JR), came back and started the last six games at righr tackle. Those six starts left such an impression with his coaches, they will be giving the Stone Bridge product the starting nod come this Saturday against East Carolina in the season-opener, this time at left tackle.

Wang, who is a converted tight end, would have been the starting right tackle in 2007 before he went down with the injury. He finally returned to the starting lineup in the Duke game last season at the right tackle slot.

"We felt like we got better on the line when he came in," said Curt Newsome, offensive line coach. "He's very athletic and is a quick learner."

Going into Saturday's game against East Carolina, Greg Nosal, a r-freshman from Kellam High School in Virginia Beach will be backing up Wang.

During the off-season, Wang turned in personal-bests in three of the four major lifts in strength and conditioning workouts.

I'm getting better everyday," said Wang when asked how his preseason practices have been going. "I'm working hard and the entire team is working hard."

When asked what one of his biggest goals this season was, Wang replied, "I just want to come out here and win every game. We have to take it week by week."

Wang wanted to send this message back to all his friends in Northern Virginia: "I miss everyone. Man, we are working hard over here."
