FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
STERLING, VA - TCC Sports, LLC and Loudoun based AM 1200 WAGE have joined forces to help extend the reach of the popular Gameday Radio Network this fall. WAGE, owned and operated by Potomac Radio, LLC, will carry the best football games from the Loudoun and Western Fairfax areas on Friday nights, grabbing the feed from GamedayMagazine.com's live audio feed.
Listeners who venture out of the house will now be able to listen to the Gameday Radio Network's call, live on AM 1200. In addition, TCC Sports will take its popular high school sports radio show called "Gameday All Access" to the airwaves on a daily basis with AM 1200 starting August 25th, 2008. "Gameday All Access" will air weekdays from 12 pm to 1 pm on the station.
Gameday's Andy Hayes, Bruce Bornarth, and Tom Whipple will anchor the shows each day that also feature interviews with coaches and media from the region.
Gameday and WAGE have a long standing relationship that dates back to 2001, when Hayes started a radio show called "The Coaches Corner", which ran on the station until 2005. During the two year absence from the radio, Hayes launched the Gameday Radio Network, the state's only high school sports, internet radio network, which now produces over 200 plus athletic events during the school year.
Last year, WAGE Radio aired the football and softball State Championship games that featured Stone Bridge, Westfield, and Broad Run respectively. The experience and success of working together again prompted both TCC Sports and Potomac Radio to open discussions on continuing the coverage into the 2008-09 athletic year, something Hayes said is a no-brainer for all parties involved.
"WAGE and Gameday have been staples in the community covering local sports for years, and it just made perfect sense for us to give our listeners another option as to how they can access our broadcasts," Hayes said. "In addition, the coverage of high school sports will expand even further with our 12 pm-1 pm Gameday All Access show every day, which is a win for the coaches, players, and local sports in general."
While WAGE Radio has focused its attention in years past only in Loudoun, this year's broadcast schedule does feature some of the better Western Fairfax games as well, which has Hayes excited.
"Fairfax football is some of the best in the state every year, and this year we will bring the Westfield vs Chantilly game to the AM 1200 listener base," Hayes said. "WAGE will still cater to its base in Loudoun, but pulling a game like this into the fold should open new doors for all parties involved."
The first game broadcast is set for Friday August 29th, when Stone Bridge will host West Springfield. Special live coverage will begin at 6:30pm on AM 1200 WAGE.Below is a list of the upcoming 2008 Football Schedule to be heard live on AM 1200 WAGE via a feed from the Gameday Radio Network....
