Stone Bridge's Stancik To Play For Longwood

ASHBURN, VA - On Monday, June 9, Senior SS standout Mike Stancik accepted an offer to play for the Longwood Lancers this coming season.
Stancik, a four year varsity starter for the Bulldogs, capped off an impressive high school career just a few weeks ago. Mike started at third base his first two years and moved to shortstop for his final two seasons. Stancik hit .385 over his four seasons at Stone Bridge and finished with an incredible .515 On Base Percentage. He holds one single season record for walks (20) and is tied for the single season record in doubles (10).
Stancik rewrote the Stone Bridge career record books and holds seven marks: Hits (102), Runs (82), Doubles (27), Walks (55), Hit by Pitch (16), Stolen Bases (43) and Assists (185). He is a 3 time first team All Liberty honoree, an All Northern Region selection twice, a four time Loudoun All Extra player and was a Washington Post All Met honorable mention twice.
Stancik is excited to play DI baseball for the Lancers. Stancik said, "I am very excited for the opportunity to play for the Lancers for the next 4 years. I have a good chance of earning playing time next season right off the bat and they are building to become a major Division 1 competitor, which I can't wait to be a part of. Coach Bolding and Coach Abell appear to be great coaches and they have brought in a great recruiting class which will make us very competitive against anybody."
The Stone Bridge Bulldogs were the Liberty District Regular Season and Tournament champions this season, finishing with a 20-4 record. Head Coach Sam Plank had the following to say about Stancik, "Mike was a four year starter and broke virtually every school record. Mike has meant so much to this progam over the years and will be missed by the entire Stone Bridge Baseball Family. He will be a great addition and likey will contribute early for the Longwood Lancers."
The Longwood Lancers just finished the NCAA four year required process to move from DII to DI. While they have played a DI schedule for the past three seasons, they just completed their first campaign as a full fledged DI program. Head Coach Buddy Bolding's Lancer's currently compete as an independent and finished with a 23-26-1 record.
