McCowat To Play D-2 Baseball For AIC

STERLING, VA - Dominion High School senior RH pitcher, and football quarterback, Geoffrey McCowat, completed a busy college selection process, by agreeing to a scholarship offer to play baseball this Fall for the American International College Yellow Jackets, and head coach Nick Callini. McCowat is scheduled to sign his National Letter of Intent in the upcoming week.
McCowat had a break-out 2008 season for the Titans, and Coach Jay Raines, compiling a 4-2 record in 7 starts with 1 no-decision. Pitching in 40.1 innings, he allowed 21 hits and struck out 67 batters, for an average of 9.6 K's per game. His biggest fete came in March, when McCowat fanned 20 Gar-Field HS batters, a Virginia State High School record. In the game that saw 21 opposing outs, McCowat accounted for all of them, as his 21st out came via his assist.
The American International College Yellow Jackets, in Springfield, MA, compete in the Northeast-10 Conference, considered one of the strongest Division-2 conferences in the country. This past season, the Yellow Jackets finished with a record of 11-30 overall, 9-21 in conference play.
