First Person With Ashleigh Miller

1. My Favorite Athlete, Pro or College:
My favorite pro athlete is/was Washington Redskins Safety Sean Taylor. Sean played every moment of every game with an intensity that has not been seen in a long time. He had such a passion for the game, but he also let the other team know he was on the field by hitting them hard. I only wish I could match his intensity when I play softball.
2. The Only Other Sport I Would Play Other Than Softball:
I would want to play football. It's my #1 sport from September through January. Our family has season tickets to the Redskins and we love going to the games every Sunday. There are many times my Dad and I go out of town to watch the Redskins play.
3. The Person Who Has Most Influenced My Life:
The person who has most influenced me in my life is my Dad. He has a lot of sports knowledge and has taught me a great deal about softball. I've always looked up to him since I was young. I basically grew up around the softball field, as I would go to all of his (Slow Pitch) softball tournaments from the day I was born until I started playing at age 6. Dad has either been my coach, or at every one of my games.
4. What I Like About High School Softball More Than Travel Softball:
The thing I like most about High School softball is that I get to see all of my teammates every day, and that I get to play with players from other travel teams that I normally face during travel ball.
5. What I Like About Travel Softball More Than High School Softball:
What I like most about travel softball is getting to go all over the country and play in different cities. During those trips, I get to bond more with my teammates. While we are there first to play the tournament, we still get to have fun seeing the sites and other things those cities have to offer. For example, when we travel to Denver, CO - we play games in 99 degree weather, but later that day we could be playing in the snow in the mountains or white-water rafting down the river.
6. My Individual Pre-Game Ritual:
I really don't have a consistent pre-game ritual. I just mainly try to stay focused...but yet still stay loose. Before games, I always try to talk with my coaches and my teammates about the other team, and offer any knowledge I have of their players.
7. The Music In My iPod Right Now:
Korn, Motley Crue, Rascal Flatts, Michelle Featherstone, Carrie Underwood, Flyleaf.
8. What I Like Most In School:
My favorite thing about school is History. I enjoy learning about American History and how our country was born.
9. My Best Friends Are:
My best friends are Hailey Tretick, Amanda Horton, and Rebecca Patton. Hailey and Amanda both play with me at Loudoun Valley High School and my Fire & Ice travel team... while Rebecca plays 1st base for Park View.
10. The Nickname Most People Don't Know I Have:
It's really weird. Most people call me by my last name...but most people don't know that my Dad calls me "Turtle" because I'm not exactly the fastest runner to play the game.
