First Person: Madison's Kyle McIntyre

I started playing baseball:

I started playing baseball in the Vienna Little League when I was 5 years old.

My Favorite MLB baseball player:

My favorite player is, or was, David Eckstein. He shows a lot of qualities that I try to emulate.

The MLB pitcher I would most like to step into the batter's box against:
Johan Santana. I think that even though is the nastiest pitcher I've ever seen I think I could a hit off him...maybe.

The sport I would play if I couldn't play baseball:

I would say basketball. I played point guard for the undefeated VYI Royal Blue team this past winter. I think if I were 6'3'', I would definitely ball up.

My pre-game ritual:

My pre-game ritual would have to be listening to music that gets me excited for the game; I usually play some Lil' Wayne, 50 Cent, or Kenny Chesney.

My superstitions when it comes to playing baseball:

I always put my jersey on the same way, three buttons off the top and slide it over my head. I also have to have my top button undone during the game, sometimes I forget and it causes me to not hit.

The person who has most influenced my life:

My dad is the most influential person in my life. He coached every team I played on until I was 14. He taught me how to play with heart and determination.

Coach Gjormand has helped me to learn:
Pudge has taught me many lessons both on and off the field. One of things that he preaches is going about your business the right way. He always talks about doing the little things. Some of them are backing up on every play or simply tucking your shirt in.

What I plan to do after my senior year:

I'm playing on the Farris Braves for the summer and I plan on attending East Carolina University in the fall.

The thing I will remember most about playing baseball for the Warhawks:

I will remember my teammates the most. Pudge (Coach Gjormand) always talks about being a family and that is exactly what we are. We care about each other and that plays a big part in why we are so successful. It doesn't just apply to on the field either. I think we are probably the only team I know that has movie nights and Halo tournaments every night of the week. These guys aren't just my teammates, they're my brothers.
