Vikings Drop Regular Season Finale 4-2

PURCELLVILLE, VA - Loudoun Valley lost their final regular season game against Stonewall Jackson 4-2. Senior Buddy Fields who's already committed to play for Mt. St. Mary's next year led the Raiders going 2-2 with a homerun, walk and three runs scored. He also pitched two shutout innings. Josh Desario started for the Raiders going three innings allowing only one run on two hits to get the win. JJ Zering pitched the final two innings and recorded the save. Combined, all three pitchers gave up a total of three hits all game.

Junior Adam Reed hit a solo homerun in the top of the 2nd inning, his fourth round tripper of the year. Sophomores Beattie Southerland and Alexander Barr had the other two hits both singles. Sophomore Alex Owens scored the second run for the Vikes after reaching on a walk.

The Viking's record is 9-11 overall and 5-9 in the district. They are the 6th seed and travel to Osbourn High School for the first round of the Cedar Run District playoffs on Monday, May 19, 2008. Game time is 6pm.
