Reed Shuts Down Centerville, Vikings win 6-1

Loudoun Valley pitcher Adam Reed pitched a complete game allowing only one run on two hits as the Vikes cruised to a 6-1 win over the Centreville Wildcats. The Vikings improve to 8-5 overall and 4-3 in the Cedar Run District.

Right out of the gate in the top of the 1st inning, the Vikings jumped out in front 2-0 when juniors Iain Mottice (2-4, run, 2 RBI's) and Wes Walker (1-4) and sophomore Alex Owens (2-4, 2 runs, HR, RBI) would hit consecutive singles to load the bases. Sophomore designated hitter Andrew Creamer hit into a fielder's choice scoring Mottice and sophomore Daniel Fleming (2-3, run, SB, RBI) would hit a single plating Owens for a 2-0 lead.

In the top of the 4th inning the Vikings would add to their lead. Daniel Fleming and sophomore Beattie Southerland (1-2, run, walk) would hit back to back singles and senior Thomas Moxley drew a walk to load the bases. Junior TJ Daeschner came in to pinch hit and delivered an RBI single plating Fleming and Iain Mottice would single as well to score both Southerland and Moxley for a 5-0 Viking lead. In the top of the 7th inning, Alex Owens hit a solo shot over the right field wall, his first of the season.

The Wildcats would get their only run in the bottom of the 7th inning on a solo homer by Wildcat centerfielder Mickey Bozek.

The Vikings resume district play traveling to Liberty HS on Thursday, May 1st.
