Kerby Stymies Titans; Tosses 3-0 Shut-Out
STERLING, VA - The Park View Patriots beat the Dominion Titans at Park View on Thursday night behind the 2 hit shut-out pitching of junior Jimmy Kerby.
Kerby kept the Titan hitters off balance all evening with a mixture of breaking balls and offspeed pitches. He went the distance striking out 8 and walking 2.
Dominion starter Geoff McCowat endured a rocky first inning where he yielded an infield hit and 4 walks which led to 2 Patriot runs. McCowat walked 7, gave up 5 hits, and 2 earned runs while striking out 9 in going the distance and taking the loss.
Bill Bradley and Drew Mason each had 2 hits to lead the Patriots. Ryan Doyle had a double and Anthony Bartolotti had a base hit for the Titans.
The Patriots, who are now 10-6 and 6-4 in the District, travel to Dominion on Friday night for a rematch. The Titans fall to 10-5 and 6-3 in the Dulles District.
