Hoover's Late Goal Helps Eagles Past Valley 1-0

PURCELLVILLE, VA - The Vikings welcomed Osbourn High School in a Men's soccer match up Friday night. Cedar Run District standings were on the line in this game. It was also Senior night for the 8 seniors on Loudoun Valley's Varsity team. Both teams came out playing hard in the first half. Osbourn had the chance to take the lead on a penalty kick, but sent it over the bar. It remained scoreless at halftime.
In the second half, Valley found their legs and began attacking the Osbourn goal, but goalie C. Fenner came up big all night, stopping three Viking break aways. With 28 minutes left in the game, Z. Hoover was left alone in the box for a goal that made it 1-0. That would be all the scoring for the night. Senior Keeper Nathan Bergel came up big for the Vikes with 16 saves as well.
Valley is now 6-7 overall, 2-2 in the district. Osbourn is 8-4 overall and a perfect 4-0 in district play.
