Stone Bridge's Thompson Commits To Wake

ASHBURN, VA - Stone Bridge High School has become the new minor league feeder system for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, or so it seems. For the second time this month, a standout player for the Bulldogs has committed to Wake Forest. Rising senior defensive end Zach Thompson gave the Demon Deacons his pledge to play for them in 2009 after a weekend visit to the Winston-Salem school

Thompson joins teammate Mike Olson, who also committed earlier this month to Wake Forest, and teammates Brian Slay (N.C State) and David Wang (Virginia Tech) as future ACC football players. Former Stone Bridge tailback and 2006 Group AAA All Gameday Player of the Year Devon 'Ylou' Brown is scheduled to play wide receiver for Wake Forest this fall.

The remaining question for the Thompson family centers around Zach's twin brother Patrick, who played quarterback as a junior for the state champion Bulldogs. Patrick has been receiving more interest from programs as of late, and could receive an offer in the coming months. Wake Forest seems to be high on his list, especially so after brother Zach decided to become a Demon Deacon.

The Bulldogs could have as many as 6 players signed to Division 1A football programs next spring if Patrick Thompson gets an offer, and rising senior Daniel Allen stays healthy enough to showcase his immense talents.
