Lady Patriots Roll To A 6-3 Win Over Falcons

BRAMBLETON, VA - Briar Woods cranked two home runs in a game for the first time in school history, but it wasn't enough as Park View claimed a 6-3 win in Dulles District action.
The Falcons (4-4, 1-4 Dulles District) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when senior Megan Stejbach sent a two-out shot over the left field fence for her first home run of the season.
The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Falcons until the bottom of the third, when the Patriots (3-3, 3-2 Dulles) plated two unearned runs on two hits and a pair of Briar Woods errors.
The Falcons threatened in the top of the fourth, loading the bases with two out. Freshman Alex Fierszt started the rally with a single down the right field line, and sophomore Holly Dominguez and freshman Kristina Karagiorgis reached on consecutive errors. Stejbach then stepped to the plate and battled through an impressive 12-pitch at bat, fouling off several two-strike offerings in a row, before popping up to second to end the inning.
Park View then pulled away with four runs in the bottom of the fourth to make a 6-1 contest.
Briar Woods cut its deficit in half when Dominguez smacked her first career home run - a two-run shot - in the sixth, but that's as close as the Falcons would get.
Dominguez and Fierszt collected two hits apiece, while Stejbach and freshman Kasey Ball each had one.
