Knight, McCowat Help Titans Slam Raiders, 14-1


LEESBURG, VA - The Dominion Titans got back on the winning track Wednesday night in Leesburg, with a convincing win over the Loudoun County Raiders by the score of 14-1 in a 6 inning game.

The Titans pounded out 10 hits in the shortened game and benefitted from 10 free passes issued by Raider pitchers. The Titan offense was led by juniors Jonathan Knight and Matt Sherrill. Knight was on base 4 times in 5 at bats with the only out being a sacrifice fly. He drove in 2 runs. Sherrill was 3 for 4 but reached base all 5 times at bat in additon to driving in 3 runs.

Senior Geoffrey McCowat went the distance for the Titans, as he made his first start since coming back from an injury. McCowat gave up 2 hits, struck out 11 in gaining his second win of the year and second consecutive complete game. Loudoun County's Conner courtney took the loss for the Raiders.

The Titans never trailed as they jumped out to a 5-0 lead after 2 and put the game away by scoring 9 runs over the final 3 innings.

The Titans, who improved to 7-3 and 3-1 in the District travel to Ashburn Friday night to face the Spartans of Broad Run High School, a game that will be featured as Gameday Radio's Game of the Week. Pregame show begins at 5:45.
