Glennon, Chopivsky lead Raiders to 13-9 win

LEESBURG, VA - The Lady Raiders dominated the Heritage Pride Monday night, winning 13-9. Within the first few minutes Kate Glennon scored for the Raiders, making the score 1-1 and was quickly followed by Brooke Hewartson 30 seconds later. With such an exciting start, the Raiders kept challenging the Pride's defense and worked for a nice lead of 7-1 by the half. Scoring for the Raiders included Glennon (2), Maria Chopivsky (2), and leaving the field each with a hat-trick included Hewartson (3), Molly Griffin (3 goals, 4 assists), and Katie Martin (3). The Raiders defense stood up strong and worked well together to ensure a "come-back" would not be possible for the Pride.

Kaitlin Ireland seemed to be the go-to defender last night forcing two turnovers by Heritage, and was followed by Jasmine Hughes, forcing one. With M. Chopivsky and Martin helping out the defense, they totaled three interceptions. Holly Tyrell had 8 saves while defending the Raiders goal and played a fabulous game. Coming in to help out the Raiders included Kasey Fletcher, Christine Rihn, Margie Currier and Gonny LeFranc. The girls really stepped up last night to show they Pride they had come to win. It was quite evident that the girls worked well together; the communication and transition was beautiful.
