First Person: Potomac Falls Senior Aaron Sweger

My Favorite Sport:
I would have to say baseball. I have been playing it since I was five, and it has always been my favorite, hands down. Now, what makes basketball fun is the environment that you play in. There's nothing like going to a rival school on a Friday night, with hundreds of people in the stands both cheering for you and against you. But like I said before, my favorite sport to play is baseball.

My Favorite Professional Athlete:
My favorite all-time athlete is Ken Griffey, Jr. I basically grew up idolizing him and even though his career lately has been defined by his injuries, he is still silky smooth when he plays. He makes the game look so easy and with the rampant steroid use in baseball, it's nice to know that he played the game the right way and didn't take any shortcuts.

When I Grow Up, I Want To Be:
Here's the truth, I really don't have any idea. I'm seriously thinking about majoring in either Engineering or Architecture or some combination of the two in college. One of my strengths in school has always been in math, and I really enjoy it and probably will pursue something that is related to that field.

My Most Memorable Sports Moment:
A few years ago, our summer baseball team was down by four runs in the bottom of the seventh, with two outs. I was on deck when my teammate hit a three-RBI double down the right field line. When I stepped up to the plate, my legs were shaking, the tying run was on second and all I wanted to do was to keep the rally alive. The first pitch was an inside fastball that I smashed over the left-field wall for a walk-off Home Run. I can't describe the feeling I had when I was trotting around the bases, watching my teammates yell and jump up and down as they ran out of the dug out. It was an unbelievable experience.

The Most Influential Person In My Athletic Career:
I know this is going to sound cliché, but that person is definitely my dad. He has always been there for me, every step of the way. He has pushed me to work hard and get better in more ways than one. Because my dad went to college on a baseball scholarship and played minor league ball, I feel some pressure to perform extremely well in order to not let him down. Even though he insists that I live my own life and not measure myself against him, I try to work hard at what I do because that's what he taught me, and I don't know any other way.

If You Listened To My Ipod, You'd Hear:
I'm really into all kinds of music but right now you'd hear Numb (remake) by Jay-Z featuring Linkin Park. Linkin Park is one of my favorite bands but I also like a lot of groups from the 80's like AC/DC. Nothing like a little Thunderstruck before a game to get you fired up and in the mood to play.

The One Thing You May Not Know About Me:
This is pretty embarrassing but I like to listen to the Lion King soundtrack when I am studying for a test. For some reason, it helps me relax and focus on what I am studying.
