Diviney, Meier Lead Spartans To 12-0 Win

(ASHBURN, VA) For the third straight game the Spartans have scored 12 runs, this time in a 12-0 romp over the visiting Briar Woods Falcons. Over their last three games the Spartans have now outscored opponents 36-2 and have combined a stingy defense with a strong offense that was missing in the middle of their season.

Behind a complete game, 2 hit shut out from pitcher Trey Brocke, the Spartans added 16 hits to dismantle the Falcons and any hopes they had on putting the Spartan head next to the Panther head on their upset wall.

The Spartans scored early on the Falcons starter Austin Fratalli when Ryan Diviney hit a two out single in the bottom of the 1st and scored on an ensuing double from catcher Tommy Meier. The Spartans would add 4 more runs in the bottom of the 2nd as Brocke led off with a double off the fence and scored on a deep fly that was misjudged by the Falcon outfield.

The Falcons Mike Reilly came in for Frattalli in the 3rd inning but was roughly greeted by the Spartan lineup as they batted around the order for 7 runs on 8 hits.

The Spartans were led at the plate by perfect performances from Seniors Ryan Diviney (3-3), Tommy Meier (3-3), Trey Brocke (3-3) and JP Devlin (2-2).

Brocke was the winning pitcher (4-1) and Frattali took the loss.

The Spartans (11-3) travel to Freedom to take on the Eagles. The Falcons hope to get back on track as they host the Dominion Titans.
