Devlin Picks Up 3rd Win In 12-1 Over Cougars

(MANASSAS PARK, VA) The Broad Run Spartans offense came alive in back to back performances scoring 12 runs in a win over the Titans on Friday night and 12 more runs in a win over the Manassas Park Cougars.

The game started on all cylinders for the Spartans as the first 5 batters reached and scored. Andrew Mann reached on a walk and promptly stole 2nd base. Chris Jessop singled scoring Mann. Ryan Diviney followed with a walk and Tommy Meier was hit by a pitch. Cole Shain drove in 2 runs at the next at bat and Trey Brocke drove in Meier on a sacrifice fly. The bases were loaded once more as both Kurt Rietzel and JP Devlin reached on walks as Mann came back in the order and drove a single to the gap for driving in Shain and Reitzel. After the top of the first, the Spartans led 7-0 and cruised through the remainder of the game.

The Cougars only run on the night was scored by the Cougars Nate Hoffa as he reached on a single, moved to 2nd on a fielder's choice, stole 3rd and then scored on a fielder's choice RBI by Josh Brown.

JP Devlin was on the hill for the Spartans and earned his 3rd win on the season (3-0) allowing only 1 run on 2 hits through 4 innings. Adam Luhmann closed the game for the Spartans striking out the side.

Next up for the Spartans (10-3) is a home stand against the hot Briar Wood Falcons. The Manassas Park Cougars (4-4) host James Monroe High School.
