Delahaba K's 11 In 4-0 Win Over Stone Bridge

ASHBURN, VA - Wednesday's cross town match-up between Stone Bridge and Broad Run had several storylines for local media to sink their teeth into. First there is the known fact that just about every member of each team has at one time probably played together in the various local travel softball leagues. Second, the Spartans are on a winning streak that had extended to 35 straight games entering the clash with the Bulldogs. And finally, new Bulldog skipper Mike Skinner was set to face the Spartans for the first time as Stone Bridge's head coach.

The storyline that continued to take center stage was the dominance of Broad Run pitcher Caitlyn Delahaba. The Spartan right-hander was her usual self, striking out 11 on the night and only giving up 1 hit in the contest. Delahaba did get into trouble in the 2nd inning after two walks and an error loaded the bases for the Bulldogs. Stone Bridge was unable to make the Spartans pay, and failed to capitalize on the few mistakes Delahaba made all night long.

Bulldog pitcher Cassie Phillips pitched well and didn't allow the Spartans much of anything until the 3rd inning, when Broad Run's Michelle Clohan and Karla Powell both scored on an error. Broad Run added two more in the 5th inning with Regan Dorion's double putting the final touches on the 4-0 win.

Delahaba finished the game strong as usual, and the Spartans improved to 7-0 on the season with the win. Stone Bridge fell to 1-4 with the loss.

Broad Run has now won 36 games in a row dating back to the 2007 season where they finished 29-0. Delahaba notched her 6th win of the season and her 34th win in a row on the mound.
