Carper, Osbourn Park Get 7-2 Win Over Valley

MANASSAS, VA - Loudoun Valley traveled to Manassas to face Osbourn Park HS in a key Cedar Run district contest. Earlier in the season, the Yellow Jackets defeated the Vikings at Fireman's Field and the outcome of this game would be no different as Osbourn Park would again defeat the Vikings this time by a score of 7-2. Senior southpaw Stephen Carper pitched five strong innings giving up two runs on four hits while striking out six Viking hitters for the win. Sophomore Nick Walker came in relief and pitched the final two innings to preserve the win. George Piccirilli and Ryan Heckman had two hits apiece leading the Yellow Jacket offense.
The Vikings scored in the top of the 3rd inning when catcher Wes Walker hit a single to right field scoring Iain Mottice from 2nd base. Adam Reed hit a solo homer in the top of the 4th inning, his third of the season. Sophomore 1st baseman, Alex Owens was 2 for 3 at the plate.
The Vikes fall to 7-5 overall and 4-3 in the district while Osbourn Park improve to 13-2 and 8-1 in the district. The Vikings are scheduled to play four games next week beginning on Monday at Liberty High School. Game time is 6pm.
