(Game Recap Provided by Titans baseball Insider)
STERLING, VA - The Dominion Titans and the Gar-Field Indians hooked up in an old fashioned "Pitcher's Duel" in Sterling Tuesday night, in the 2nd game of a "Home-and-Home" series between the 2 teams. In the 1st game last week, at Gar-Field, the Titans were the 7-0 victor, behind 20 strikeouts by senior Geoff McCowat. In game #2, freshman Tyler Habick of Gar-Field and the Titans' Chris Taylor both surrendered 3 hits and struck out 10 with both going the distance.
The Indians scored in the first inning on 2 hits off Taylor. The game remained 1-0 until the bottom of the seventh inning when Anthony Bartolotti led off the inning with a line drive base hit to left. Bartolotti advanced to third on a throwing error. He then scored on an RBI fielder's choice by Ryan Skeffington to tie the game with Skeffington safe at first.
Greg Smucker drew an intentional pass and freshman Andy Heindel was walked to load the bases. Steve Smucker hit a ground ball to short but the throw to home was dropped by the catcher, giving the Titans the come from behind win. Taylor was the winning pitcher and Habick was the hard luck loser.
The Titans are back in action, at home, on Wednesday night as they take on JEB Stuart, at 6 pm.
