Smucker, Bartolotti Power Titans In 9-5 Win

SOUTH RIDING, VA - Dominion High School opened their 2008 Dulles District Season with a 9-5 win over the Freedom Eagles at windswept Eagle Field.
The Titans, who have now won 4 in a row, got a gutsy pitching performance from Junior Ryan Skeffington, who
was pressed in to action due to Titan injuries. Skeffington battled for 5 and 1/3 innings to get his second win of the season. Chris Taylor came in to relieve Skeffington and struck out 4 of the 5 batters he faced to preserve the victory.
The Titans began the game with 7 consecutive walks, which resulted in 5 runs, off Eagle starter Ali Moosvi,
who was making his first start of the year. The Titans never trailed, although the Eagles did close to 8-5 in the fourth.
Steve Smucker was 3-3 for the Titans and Anthony Bartolotti had a triple and 2 RBIs.
The Titans are home on Tuesday to host the Briar Woods Falcons for a 6 pm Dulles District game.
